First, realize that as the author states, this is a transcript of a podcast or webinar or something to that affect. This is not a professional level, edited, ebook; HOWEVER, the content is VERY good. I actually struggled to put it down and to some extent enjoyed the transcripty style. It seemed to retain a more personal feel (like Bills videos) than your standard "how to" book.This kindle covers a lot of ground relative to breaking into VO. Bill uses his experience to help guide prospective VO talent down a winning path to their own business. I learned something in every section that will help me a great deal. There were a couple work flow tips that will save me 100's of times the cost of this kindle.
What I like most is that Bill Dewees really does a good job of sort of engraving in your mind whats required to be successful in VO. He makes it clear; no magic, no short cuts, lots of work, and a great career if you can be persistent.

This book reveals the what it takes to earn $100K + and pulls no punches! But it also gives an invite to any voice over talent to be a part of a good voice over network, and very good support. If you have any interest in do some voice over work, you need to read this book. I would read read this book before I read any other voice over book. At 137 pages, it a quick informative read, but read between the lines , and watch the YouTube videos also. Good work Bill.....
How to Start and Build a SIX FIGURE Voice Over Business provides me with a great foundation for my business. Bill DeWees gives insight on what direction to take, based on his experiences. Without altering the foundation, now I will personalize my business and give it the character that reflects what I offer as a voice-over talent.

Bill is very well known in the industry as someone that's walked the walk. He's built up his business in a modern environment, which makes his experience even more relevant to those trying to get a foot hold in todays marketplace. The book is well written and full of great information; you bring the hard work and the enthusiasm and this guide, combined with Bill's YouTube Channel will give you all the tools you need to turn hard work into an income. It's not a get rich quick scheme, it's a set of tried and tested practices, that will provide you with a career to build on. Don't be fooled by thinking it's easy, there simply is no substitute for getting out there and working hard (notice how many time I mention this!), but if you have the desire to make it happen, this book will remove the trial and error, and help you to create your own "good luck".
This book's more accurate name is "How I Built a 6-Figure Voice Over Business." I am 50 pages in, which just about halfway through and so far it is all what the author has done to achieve his goals. (will update when finished) While I believe it is important to study how other gained their success, no 2 stories are exactly alike. Use this book along with a lot of other learning material such as thicker, more classroom level books and podcasts.
UPDATE the last few chapters really make this book worth the read. Bill DeWees goes into great innovative techniques for marketing yourself that are sure to be the new standard in the industry if it is not already.
The first part of the book can seem a bit braggadocios at times. Keep reading and you’ll get past that. If you keep reading, you find a little gold mine of professional tutoring. As a former radio DJ (aka “announcer”), I could relate to what he was saying enough to know that this author knows what he’s taking about. You get the feeling that he’s taking you into his studio and letting you watch over his shoulder while he works as he’s explaining to you exactly what he’s doing and why. I found the book at once motivating, educational, and encouraging. The book left me knowing that I CAN DO THIS!
If you are at the very beginning stages of your Voice Over career, this book will be golden. It is setup to take you by the hand and explain the industry and common misconceptions. I agree that there seems to be a lot of redundancy that can come across as padding the book to make it longer. And still it is a short book, under 150 pages and it will not take long to read. But you will want to keep it for the references given and to compare your marketing techniques to his.
I found the latter third of the book more than worth the price of the book for me, some good marketing techniques that I will be starting ASAP.
I don't understand the complaints that Bill is always pushing his services. He has a section at the end of the book showing what he offers, but other than that I didn't feel it was bad at all. My biggest complaint is the constant mention of "Six Figure", 26 times when I do a search on my in a book that is a total of 145 pages. In the internet world we would call this keyword stuffing.
I am a professional voice over artist and at the beginning of 2016 decided to get serious about marketing the business side of what I have been doing for the last 4 years. I found Bill DeWees on YouTube searching for help, and discovered a very giving gentleman who has been where I have and is now very successful in the voice over world. He is successful at both voice over and the business side of marketing himself. This book is an amazing guide to help VOA's at any level of experience. Bill teaches you the how's that worked for him and are now working for me.
